MoD and blowing up live pigs and the like...

Oh dear, I'm faced with the gruesome fact that the Ministry of Defence used 119 pigs and blew them up whilst still alive, to find out how they reacted. WHAT? How do they think they'd react? with joy and cheering?
This was apparently to find out the results in the animals, so the results can be used to help soldiers and patients. OK. That I get, but live animals? They were "sedated." Then what did they feel like, if and when they survived the blowing up? The breed of pigs use have skins similar to humans, I expect that makes the poor pigs feel much better! I quote, verbatim:

An RSPCA spokesman said the MoD was required to carry out the tests under strict controls, but added: 'For many, such a use of animals represents a distressing example of the price animals can end up paying as a result of humans' inhumanity towards other humans.'

An MoD spokesman said: 'The advances made due to this research can be utilised both in theatre and civilian scenarios, particularly if there are mass casualties and evacuation to hospital is delayed.'

Government figures show more than 50,000 animals, including sheep, monkeys and cattle, have been subject to experiments at Porton Down in the past four years, including ones using chemical and biological weapons such as Anthrax and nerve gas.

Quite frankly, I'd prefer to use this type of experiment on the terrorists captured as they show not an iota of remorse for the suffering they cause with their bombs etc. against innocent people, all in the name of "God."

Good, isn't it......
